The West Pilbara Turtle Program is a partnership between Parks and Wildlife Service and Rio Tinto. Each year, community volunteers monitor turtle nesting beaches counting turtle tracks and nests from November to January on beaches near Wickham and Cleaverville. We are now looking for volunteers to help with this program and get involved in our events and activities like turtle nesting night tours and beach clean-ups.
Our turtle monitoring runs from 3rd November through to 16th January each year. Volunteers can be involved as much or as little as they like and we encourage families to participate. Beach monitoring occurs in the morning before 11am each day and other activities happening in the evenings.
