The City of Karratha is a pet-friendly City. The City encourages responsible pet ownership, with all dogs to be microchipped.
All dogs over the age of 3 months must be registered, with renewals due by 31 October each year.
You may choose to complete a once-off lifetime registration to save renewing each year.
Registering your dog or renewing an existing registration
You can register your dog or renew its registration in the way which best suits you:
Download the online Dog Registration Form and return:
- in person at the City of Karratha Administration Building on Welcome Road, Karratha between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Remember to bring any supporting documentation (proof of microchip, sterilisation and/or concession).
- by mail by posting the completed renewal form along with a cheque, money order or your credit card details to City of Karratha, PO Box 219, Karratha WA 6714.

Terms and Conditions
All dogs must be microchipped, and under new legislation must be sterilised by the age of 2 years. Please contact your vet for information on microchipping or sterilising your dog. Sterilising usually occurs at 4 to 6 months.
Sterilisation and microchip certificates must be included with your registration application for a Sterilised Dog.
Please notify the City of any changes, such as ownership, address, or on the death of your dog.
Concession rates apply for dogs owned by pensioners where proof of concession is submitted.
Dog registrations are valid until 31 October each year. If you first register your dog after 31 May, half the normal fee is applicable for one year registration (for the initial registration only).
Microchipping
Microchipping your pets is a safe and effective method of reuniting you with your pet if they become lost.
Your local vet can provide microchipping services.
Register your dog by completing the application form. If you’d prefer a hard copy registration form, please attend one of the City’s Administration Offices on Welcome Road, Karratha, or the Roebourne Library. Wickham Library and Dampier library.
Can I have more than 2 dogs?
An application is required to keep more than two dogs on your property, this is considered on a case-by-case basis.
