Energy Efficiency Pilot Program

The City of Karratha is participating in the Switch Your Thinking program. The program is a local government initiative designed to help residents and small to medium businesses build energy literacy, and implement energy, and water efficiency measures, to create a more sustainable lifestyle. 

From March 2025 to March 2026, Switch Your Thinking will host a series of FREE online workshops focused on Energy Efficiency and Savings. Some additional presentations have included: 

  • Understanding Solar and Batteries in Your Home.
  • Planning Your Electrification Transition.
  • Understanding Electric Vehicles and Charging
  • Creating Healthy, Productive & Energy Efficient Workspaces By Design
  • Energy Efficiency Tips for Households 
     

Home Energy & Water Audit Kits now available

As part of the program, the City has four Home Energy & Water Audit Kits available for loan. The kits are designed to help assess the energy and water efficiency in homes, giving residents valuable insights into areas where they can improve their energy and water use. A kit will be allocated at each of the following libraries; Karratha, Dampier, Roebourne, and Wickham. Participate to Win!

Win a new home energy assessment for homes yet to be built, by energy assessors NatHERS. To become eligible for a NatHERS assessment entrants must borrowed an energy audit kit AND complete the follow-up survey. To complete the survey, simply scan the QR code located in the kit. Winners will be awarded a NatHERS assessment between April 2025 and March 2026.
