The City provides a range of free resources to help educators, schools and students bring history to life.
Local History collects, preserves and celebrates the region’s rich local heritage, and provides a range of free resources to download from the City’s archive.
Digital Classroom
Digital Classroom offers education packs designed for the WA HASS Curriculum, which also align with the Australian National Curriculum. Each educational package is based on the historical town of Cossack, Western Australia, and has activities linked to a photo, document, object or other authentic historical source from the City of Karratha Local History Collection.
Travelling Treasures
Travelling Treasures suitcases are part of the local history outreach program, bringing local artifacts and information into school classrooms. These suitcases are used in addition to a structured teaching program designed by the classroom teacher, as they provide activities rather than a dedicated education program.
There are three themed suitcases to loan: Olden Days, Military and Games from the Past. Each include objects, historical photographs, documents and newspaper articles in a convenient suitcase package.
Travelling suitcases are free to loan, and may be borrowed by local schools for a term at a time.
