A subdivision of commercial or residential land is a process of dividing one (or more) parcels of land into additional allotments. The City can help you understand and navigate the process for approvals to undertake a subdivision.
Applications for subdivision must be lodged first with the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). WAPC then refer applications to the City of Karratha, as well as other relevant service agencies such as Western Power and the Water Corporation.
The City of Karratha provides comments and recommendations to the WAPC. Once the WAPC has received recommendations from the City and relevant service providers, the WAPC may approve an application with or without conditions, or refuse an application.
Visit wa.gov.au for more information on planning subdivision fees and forms.
Subdivision Clearance Applications
Where the WAPC has issued conditional approval, applicants must request clearance of the conditions of approval from the service providers listed on the notice.
To apply for a subdivision clearance with the City, please submit to the City:
- a covering letter referencing the WAPC reference number and conditions to be cleared by us
- a copy of the approval from the WAPC
- a copy of the subdivision/survey-strata plan
- any plans or information required by the conditions of approval to enable conditions to be cleared.
Read the Schedule of Fees and Charges to find out the clearance charges. These are based on the number of lots to be cleared (excluding common property).
