Gardening royalty to share secrets as part of Ready Set Grow

Gardening royalty Sabrina Hahn is coming to Karratha to share her knowledge with locals as part of the Ready Set Grow 2024 competition.

Launched in 2020, Ready Set Grow aims to increase awareness and community participation in crime prevention and community safety initiatives.

This year Ready Set Grow will be expanded to eight categories up from last year’s five with more than $10,000 in prizes to be won.

As part of the contest, Sabrina Hahn will be visiting Karratha to host two gardening workshops on June 15 at Karratha Community Garden and June 16 at the Dampier Community Garden.

She will also be conducting a special author talk and Q&A session with Kelly Gudgeon at the June Libraries After Dark session.

With more than 35 years in the horticultural industry, Sabrina is well respected and regarded. She is also known for her work as a presenter and talkback host in gardening for ABC Perth for 27 years which has given her a deeper insight into the challenges of gardening throughout the state.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said he looked forward to seeing the fantastic entries in this year’s Ready Set Grow competition.

“Our Ready Set Grow competition puts our best gardens on display across a wide range of categories with the quality increasing each and every year,” Cr Scott said.

“This year we have the highly respected and fantastic Sabrina Hahn coming up to share her knowledge with our community.

“I encourage everyone with a garden they are proud of to enter our competition, or to come down to one of the two workshops for what should be an educational experience.”

Entries are currently open and close July 7, for more information and to enter visit karratha.wa.gov.au/ready-set-grow.

This year’s Ready Set Grow Garden Competition was supported by Rio Tinto, Woodside Energy, North West Shelf Project and Water Corporation.
