The City of Karratha has been announced as a finalist in three categories for the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities awards.
The City was announced as a finalist in the State Award as well as the Environmental Education and Youth Legends categories.
Under the Environmental Education category, the City was named a finalist for the Youth Shed’s Green Generation Program which focuses on litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling, sustainable transportation, gardening, composting, water conservation, and energy efficiency.
Meanwhile the City was named a finalist in the Youth Legends category, for its youth-led recycled art program that empowers young individuals to craft artistic and educational pieces using only recycled materials.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said it was a fantastic achievement to be named a finalist in three categories.
“To be named a finalist in three categories, including the State Award, shows our commitment and dedication to improving our environment and encouraging youth to be involved,” Mayor Scott said.
“Congratulations to all our staff for their hard work to enable this and I look forward to the winners being announced.”
