A series of upgrades to Andover Park in direct response to feedback from the Roebourne community are set to begin.
City of Karratha councillors allocated $1.2m from budgeted funds to undertake works that will boost parking and lighting at the popular park.
The City will utilise the existing budget to complete the Andover Park works following delays to the commencement of the Roebourne Streetscape.
As part of the Andover works, the City will be formalising verge parking along Andover Way and Lockyer Way creating up to 20 bays, including an allowance for disability parking, and improve lighting at the end of Andover Park.
The $6.5m Roebourne Streetscape works were scheduled to begin this financial year and are anticipated to commence in April.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the reallocation of funds was a way for the City to continue to deliver upgrades.
“The planned works at Andover Park are a direct result from recent community feedback from the Roebourne community and Elders,” Cr Scott said.
“Given the Roebourne Streetscape works has been delayed until next year, we are using a portion of these budgeted funds to bring forward works that were earmarked for the 2025/26 budget.
“This will result in no net financial increase to our budget while also improving key public infrastructure.”
