The City of Karratha is seeking voluntary caretakers to manage two nature-based campsites at Gnoorea (40 Mile) and Cleaverville for the upcoming camping season from May to September.
Position Overview
The Seasonal Voluntary Caretaker role is an exciting opportunity to manage and maintain two nature-based campgrounds located on the coast near Karratha. The role involves customer service, campground patrols, site management, and liaising with visitors and authorities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.
The City of Karratha is seeking voluntary caretakers to manage two nature-based campsites at Gnoorea (40 Mile) and Cleaverville for the upcoming camping season from May to September.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and direct campers to their allocated sites.
- Monitor online bookings, site allocations, and ensure compliance with the booking system.
- Provide customer service, including assistance with bookings and offering local area information.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of campground facilities, including regular toilet checks and waste management.
- Conduct campground patrols to ensure safety and proper site usage.
- Liaise with City officers and emergency services as needed.
- Respond to hazards, incidents and non-compliance issues, reporting these promptly.
- Ensure that all camping patrons adhere to campground rules and regulations.
Key Requirements:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily campground operations.
- Availability for "check-ins" during peak camping times (morning and evening).
- Comfortable working in remote outdoor environments.
- Ability to assist in emergencies, including evacuation and first aid.
Health & Safety Expectations:
- Adherence to the City’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
- Regular reporting of hazards, incidents and safety concerns.
- Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
