Rio Tinto's Richard Cohen to deliver Keynote Address at OECD 4th Meeting of Mining Regions and Cities

The City of Karratha and OECD are pleased to announce that Rio Tinto Iron Ore Managing Director Port, Rail & Core Services Richard Cohen, will be delivering a keynote address at the upcoming OECD 4th Meeting of Mining Regions and Cities.

The conference, which will be held at Karratha's Red Earth Arts Precinct from 20-23 June, will bring together delegates from around the world to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing mining regions and cities.

Richard Cohen has a deep commitment and long history with the Pilbara, having started his career as a graduate engineer in Dampier. He will be discussing Rio Tinto’s journey towards net zero, and the opportunities to work with Traditional Owners, local business and communities to accelerate the energy transition across the Pilbara.

"His experience and leadership in the mining industry will provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges facing mining regions and cities, and the role that the industry can play in supporting local economic development," said Cr Nunn.

The OECD's 4th Meeting of Mining Regions and Cities will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials, industry representatives, and community leaders. The event will provide a platform for sharing best practices and innovative solutions for sustainable development in mining regions and cities.
