Red Earth Arts Festival returns with 100 events

The Red Earth Arts Festival is back and bigger than ever with more than 100 performances, workshops, experiences across four days.

Held on 15-18 May, this year’s festival features a vast variety of free and ticketed performances across Karratha, Roebourne, Dampier, Wickham, and Point Samson.

This year’s event will showcase performances and experiences from circus and comedy acts to drag brunch and puppets with a mix of acts suitable for children, adults, and all ages.

A noteworthy aspect of this year's festival is the initiative "REAF in the Regions," which aims to extend the festivities to all towns within our locality.

The Dampier Community Day will take place on Saturday, featuring roving entertainment, live performances on the main stage, and performances by JOAN AND THE GIANTS and REGURGITATOR. This event is free and suitable for all ages.

On Sunday, Wickham will serve as a community hub, hosting free workshops in the morning. Additionally, Port Walcott Yacht Club will feature a second performance by Joan and the Giants and Regurgitator, with DJ Mango Cha Cha opening the event at 4PM.

Also on Sunday, Hearson Cove will host the Festival Finale, which will include "Fever Dream" by Curious Legends and "First Lights Bunggaliyarra Munggu – A Creation Story," a collaboration between Fremantle Biennale and the Juluwarlu Art Group.

Meanwhile, the Harmony and HeART Community Event will be held at The Quarter on Friday and features an interactive installation The Whale by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, markets, workshops, roving entertainment, and live performances on the mainstage.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City had worked hard to bring thought provoking entertainment to Karratha for this year’s event.

“Our Red Earth Arts Precinct will come alive with an extraordinary lineup of performances during REAF,” Cr Scott said.

“You won’t want to miss this—make sure to secure your tickets in advance and immerse yourself in shows that will make you laugh, challenge your views, and create unforgettable memories.”

Rio Tinto Managing Director Rail, Port and Core Services Richard Cohen said: “Rio Tinto is thrilled to again support REAF, which delivers a range of vibrant arts and cultural experiences for the local community and visitors.

“Rio Tinto has partnered with REAF since its launch in 2010 and it has been wonderful to see the festival go from strength to strength since then. I look forward to the diverse talent and performances that will come to life during the festival this year.”

The City of Karratha is proud to present REAF 2025, and we would like to thank our Principal Partner Rio Tinto, The Quarter Sponsor Woodside Energy and its joint venture partners, Finale Sponsor Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation and Yindjibarndi Nation, and Gold Sponsor Pilbara Ports.
