Nominate Your 2027 Community Citizen of the Year

It’s time to start thinking about those who are doing amazing things in our local community.

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the positive impact of individuals, groups and events who are engaged and committed to our local community. Whether they are a nominee or recipient, we can all celebrate their outstanding contribution, because we’re all part of the story.

Recognising local heroes for more than 20 years, the Awards are made up of four categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals over 16 years)
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 16-30 years)
  • Senior Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 65 years and over)
  • Active Citizenship (for community groups or events)

Nominations can be made for contributions to education, health, fundraising, voluntary services, business, sports, arts, culture, the environment, social inclusion or any other area that enhances the wellbeing of our community. For the full criteria, visit www.citizenshipawards.com.au/criteria

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the awards honour the strong sense of community across all towns within the City of Karratha.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise those who selflessly give their time and energy to better our community,” said Mayor Scott.

“Past recipients have included dedicated volunteers, youth leaders, and community groups whose efforts make the City of Karratha a better place to live, work, and play.

“These awards are about celebrating their passion and commitment, and I encourage everyone to think about the individuals and groups who inspire them and submit a nomination.”

Nominations for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards are open until 31 October 2026 and can be submitted at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate

City of Karratha recipients will be announced at an awards ceremony in January 2027
