A new long-term community partnership has been established between the City of Karratha and Woodside Energy and its joint venture partners, with a focus on providing support across a broad range of projects and services.
The commitment of Woodside and its joint venture partners to $5.5million over a five-year period supports the continued provision of a number of important and much-loved community programs and liveability initiatives, as well as allowing for contribution to significant City projects.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said working together with Woodside and its joint venture partners was an integral part of delivering high quality community programs and well-attended community events.
“Woodside and its joint venture partners have a demonstrated history of commitment to the City of Karratha community, and I am very pleased to see our work together continue to grow,” Cr Scott said.
“This support is incredibly important, assisting City operations in the delivery of exceptional events, programming and projects for our residents to enjoy,” he said. Â
“One of the key elements of this partnership is the increased support for The Youth Shed and the programming it offers young people in Karratha. Providing opportunity for youth to grow, learn and socialise is an important part of creating a safe and liveable city.”
Woodside Vice President Scarborough Mike Robinson said the company was pleased to extend collaboration with the City of Karratha, understanding the wide reach these initiatives and projects have in the community.
“This increased support to the City of Karratha is made possible by the Scarborough Energy Project and our continued focus on making a contribution to the community where we live and work.
“We recognise the City’s vision of being Australia’s most liveable regional city, and are proud to support initiatives, events and programs that enhance this vision. Things like knowing your neighbours and feeling safe, and honouring local culture and history are important to create a strong sense of community belonging,” he said.
