Two independent members with extensive experience have been appointed to the City’s Audit and Organisational Risk Committee (AORC).
Council has appointed Phillip Draber and David Price to the City’s AORC as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively.
Mr Draber has extensive experience in strategic leadership and financial oversight having served as The Returned & Services League WA State Treasurer, and on the Fremantle City Council Audit & Risk Committee.
He has also worked as Director of Risk Management & Audit Assurance at Edith Cowan University and was Director of Internal Audit at Murdoch University.
Newly appointed Deputy Chair, Mr Price has an extensive background and knowledge in management, governance, planning, and development.
He was previously employed as the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Nedlands and most recently as the Chief Executive of the Law Society of Western Australia.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said he looked forward to working with the new AORC members.
“Having two highly respected and experienced people join our committee is fantastic for the City,” Cr Scott said.
“Both Mr Draber and Mr Price bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of risk management and corporate governance to the committee.”
“This committee plays an important role in independently overseeing the local government's financial systems, and their appointments highlight our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial and operational responsibility.”
