City of Karratha partnership announced with BCI Minerals

BCI Minerals (BCI), who are developing the Mardie Salt and Potash Project on the West Pilbara coast, has signed its inaugural partnership agreement with the City of Karratha, providing support to community events and programs within the town.

BCI has generously committed funds to support various community events and programs within the City of Karratha:

The partnership includes funding for the following:

  • FeNaClNG Festival 2022 as a Silver Sponsor;
  • Cossack Art Awards 2022 as the ‘Works on Paper’ Category Sponsor;
  • Grants targeting sporting activities for youth and capacity building in Indigenous communities; and
  • Medical Services Housing Subsidy.

BCI have been a strong supporter of the local community, establishing a Pilbara office in the Karratha CBD in early 2021.

City of Karratha Mayor, Peter Long, said the partnership with BCI will support critical services and community events within the City, and provide necessary funding to the arts, youth and indigenous, and help to attract skilled workers to the region.

“BCI’s commitment to funding crucial initiatives within our community means we are able to continue to support events, youth programs and capacity building in indigenous programs, and attract health professionals to the City.

“With funding like this, we’re able to ensure value is created for the community and aids in taking steps towards becoming Australia’s most liveable regional city.

“We are pleased to be working with BCI Minerals now and in the future.”

BCI Managing Director, Alwyn Vorster, said the company was proud to be part of the Karratha community and supporting local initiatives.

“Community events and programs, such as those being supported through the City of Karratha and BCI partnership, support the sustainability of vibrant communities across Western Australia.

As we continue to construct our Mardie project, which will have a 60-plus year operating life, we look forward to delivering long-term benefits to the region and continuing to support and participate in the local community.”
