Red Earth Arts Festival 2022 program released

The Red Earth Arts Festival (REAF) 2022 program has been released, with the festival officially opening on March 17.

Audience of all ages can look forward to a jam-packed festival, with over 30 programs, from over 100 artists on offer. Karratha audiences will be presented with a diverse program of visual art, theatre, film, music, dance, literature, cabaret, comedy and circus.

This year's festival program will focus on community storytelling, participation and skill development, whilst showcasing local and WA talent.

Highlights from the program include a performance of Jali by Oliver Twist, community puppet making and masterclasses with artist Karen Hethey from Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation, artists in residence situated across local venues and live music and entertainment from acclaimed WA artists, as part of the Homegrown project.

The festival hub pop-up bar The HeART will also be running throughout the festival, offering food, drinks and free entertainment for the whole family.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said Council is proud to deliver the twelfth Red Earth Arts Festival.

"We acknowledge the special role the Red Earth Arts Festival plays in supporting arts and culture in the City and are proud to be able to present the festival once again", Cr Long said.

"We are pleased to see such a fantastic and diverse line up of local and WA talent this year, which we are sure audiences are going to love.

"Opening night is going to be an absolute standout, with our community display from workshops with Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation, songs by Kuruma Marthedunera Traditional Owner Josie Alec and some other special surprises.

"We have been particularly lucky to secure some amazing talent this year and encourage everyone to get out to see a show, sign up for a workshop and get involved".
