Large grants now open for local community and sporting groups

Applications for the latest round of the City of Karratha’s Large Community Grant Scheme are now open.

More than $180,000 was awarded to local community and sporting organisations in September, after council approved nine applications for funding assistance for projects to be delivered.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the variety of community groups applying was encouraging.

“Community and sporting groups are important to the growth and enhanced liveability of our towns,” Cr Scott said.

“The Community Grant Scheme reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to local organisations who deliver some great projects and activities to our community.

“These groups are the heart and soul of our community and every year the City allocates $500,000 in funding through its Large Community Grants program.

“I encourage local groups to submit their application for the next round prior to the February 29 closing date.”
