The City of Karratha is searching for an artist to share their creativity and skills with the local community over four weeks in July and August 2025.
As a nationally significant art prize, the Cossack Art Awards are one of the premier arts and cultural events in the Pilbara.
2025 marks the fifteenth year of the Cossack Art Awards Artist in Residence Program, facilitated by the City of Karratha with Principal Partner Rio Tinto.
Running from 14 July 2025 to 11 August 2025, the residency is an opportunity for artists to focus on their practice in the unique environment of the historical town of Cossack.
The 2025 Artist in Residence Program is open to all Australian artists.
The Cossack Art Awards, established in 1992, will run over three weeks from 20 July 2025 to 10 August 2025.
The Artist in Residence program will support the appointed artist by providing $20,000 to cover the cost of accommodation provided by the City of Karratha, with the remaining funds covering the artist’s fee, travel, art supplies and living expenses during their residency.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the Artist in Residency program was highly anticipated by local creatives.
“I encourage artists from all over Australia to apply for this exceptional residency,” he said.
“Spending four weeks in the charming, historic town of Cossack is sure to awaken the emotions artists seek for deep inspiration, creating lasting memories and impactful works.”
