The City of Karratha is seeking a dynamic and motivated Statutory Planner to join our Planning Services team. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality, timely statutory planning services and helping to maintain and improve our statutory planning framework, systems, and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and process development and subdivision applications, ensuring compliance with the City's planning policies and legislation.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on planning applications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on residential design matters and support the Building Services team.
  • Contribute to the development of local planning policies, strategies, and procedures.
  • Deliver professional and responsive customer service, including managing public enquiries and overseeing public consultation processes.
  • Undertake research and prepare submissions related to planning issues and other land proposals.

About You:

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in land use planning (or a related field).
  • A sound understanding of statutory planning legislation and local government processes.
  • Proven decision-making and problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both autonomously and within a team.
  • A current C class driver’s licence and a recent National Police Certificate.
