Are you passionate about creating safer communities? The City of Karratha is seeking a dedicated and proactive Community Safety Officer to lead the development, implementation, and coordination of our Community Safety Plan. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders, including WA Police, DFES, local businesses, and community groups, to ensure community safety priorities are effectively addressed.
Key responsibilities in this role will include:
- Lead and manage community safety initiatives, ensuring they align with best practices and local needs.
- Develop, review, and administer strategic plans, policies, and processes related to community safety.
- Actively engage and encourage community participation in safety programs and initiatives.
- Serve as the City’s primary liaison for operational issues related to the Community Safety Plan.
- Manage program budgets, reporting, and funding applications to support community safety initiatives.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for community safety, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders. To excel in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Community Safety, Community Development, or a related field.
- Strong project and contract management experience.
- Experience working with government agencies and community stakeholders.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to present and prepare reports.
- A current C class driver’s licence, police clearance and a Working with Children Check.
