Are you passionate about creating an inclusive, equitable, and diverse community? The City of Karratha is looking for a dynamic Community Development Officer - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to drive initiatives that foster belonging and empowerment in our region.

About the Role:
In this pivotal position, you will develop and implement community-based programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, aligned with the City's strategic plans. You will apply an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework, working closely with residents, community groups, and stakeholders to identify community strengths and resources, supporting underrepresented and marginalized groups. Your initiatives will build resilience and capacity across our diverse community, empowering people to lead DEI projects and contribute to an inclusive future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate DEI programs that build on community strengths.
  • Engage with a broad range of community groups and stakeholders to understand their needs and develop strong partnerships.
  • Design and deliver programs that support underrepresented groups, ensuring sustainability and community ownership.
  • Provide support and guidance to ensure that DEI principles are embedded in both community initiatives and internal practices.
  • Monitor program budgets and research funding opportunities to sustain DEI projects.
  • Support community consultation and maintain the City's online presence with relevant DEI content.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in community development with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse groups and facilitate community-driven initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
