The City of Karratha is offering an opportunity for a suitably experienced and self-motivated Community Development Officer to join the Partnerships & Engagement team. This position is based in Karratha, offering an attractive salary and a range of other benefits including, but not limited to:

The Community Development Officer is the central point for community development and capacity building activities for the community. The role responsibilities include planning, coordinating and implementing a range of community development and social initiatives, as determined by Council and guided by relevant strategies and community plans. The position provides advice on current community context to internal stakeholders and makes recommendations that encourage and maximise community participation, involvement and capacity building.
This position will have a specific focus on the Youth, Families and Early Years portfolios.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in either Social Sciences, Community Development or similar relevant field.
- Demonstrated relevant experience in community development programs in a local government context.
- IAP2A Certificate of Engagement (desirable)
- National (or Federal) Police Certificate (no more than 6 months old).
- Availability to work flexible work times (evenings, weekends) to meet requirements of the role.
- Provide First Aid certificate (desirable)
