REAF to light up Arts Precinct stage

The Red Earth Arts Festival is back from May 9-12 for its 14th year with more than 70 performances, workshops, and experiences on offer, including loads of amazing stage shows.

This year’s festival features a slew of fantastic shows across the four days including performances from the West Australian Opera, and Bad Feminist, to Yuck Circus among many others.

West Australian Opera will be performing their acclaimed, family-friendly Koolbardi wer Wardong (Magpie and the Crow), set on Noongar Boodja during the time of Creation, following the story of Koolbardi the Magpie and Wardong the Crow -  two very proud, vain, jealous brothers.

Meanwhile, Gary Lang NT Dance Company are bringing to the stage their haunting performance Other Side of Me - detailing the tragedy of Stolen Generations through the heartbreaking story of one man stranded between two families, continents, and cultures.

Other highlights include the sassy romantic comedy with a political twist Bad Feminist, the chaotic and wild Appeasing Nergal featuring three circus performers entertaining themselves with everyday household items to execute mind-bending tricks, as well as the standup comedy of Janelle Koenig and Dean Misdale in The Joker and the Queen.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City had worked hard to bring thought provoking entertainment to Karratha for this year’s event.

“Our Red Earth Arts Precinct will be jam packed with a wide variety of top-quality performances throughout REAF,” Cr Scott said.

“These shows are sure to be a blast, so make sure to book ahead and come down for some shows that will make you laugh, push boundaries and leave you thoroughly entertained.”

REAF is proudly presented by the City of Karratha and Principal Partner Rio Tinto, with Event Partner Woodside Energy and its joint venture partners, and Program Partner Pilbara Ports.  In-kind sponsorship has been provided by Pilbara Traffic Management and Damel.
