Masters of Monochrome Exhibition

Masters of Monochrome Exhibition

Masters of Monochrome launched on Thursday 25 January 2024, featuring two concurrent solo exhibitions by Kertu Ehala and Roderick Sprigg.

The Red Earth Arts Precinct Exhibition Program proudly presents Masters of Monochrome: two concurrent solo exhibitions by local artists Kertu Ehala and Roderick Sprigg. On daily at the Red Earth Arts Precinct until 15 March 2024.

A visual symphony of urgency and beauty, Animals by Kertu Ehala, provides a poignant reminder of the delicate harmony of biodiversity we risk losing. Each stroke of charcoal purveys not only striking physical likeness but also an intimate invitation to reflect on the profound impact we have on our own ecosystems. Each subject masterfully offered as a call to action to safeguard the habitats crucial to the survivor of these magnificent creatures.

Exhibiting artist and creator of Batterie, Roderick Sprigg uses authentic rhythm to delve headfirst into the nuanced connection between masculinity and the animal realm. Sprigg relates his showcase to the playing of jazz music, combining traditions and improvisation. Batterie is 'drums' in French and it's with an awareness of sounds and driving forces that the works have been made. His exhibited works explore inner-drives, conflict and the attribution of human emotions to animals.

Animals is on display upstairs at the Red Earth Arts Precinct and Batterie is on display in the foyer at the Red Earth Arts Precinct until 15 March. Entry to the exhibitions are free of charge.
