Gifts, Benefits & Travel Contributions

Under section 5.87A and 5.87B of the Local Government Act 1995, council members and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) are required to disclose gifts which are valued over $300 or are two or more gifts with a cumulative value over $300 (where the gifts are received from the same donor in a 12 month period) within 10 days of receipt.
The CEO is required to publish an up to date version of the Gifts Register on the City’s website following disclosures made. 
To protect the privacy of individuals, the register published on the website does not include the address disclosed by an individual donor.

Electoral Gifts Register

Part 5A of the Local Government (Elections) Regulations 1997 requires both candidates and donors to disclose information about any electoral related gift with a value of $200 or more that was given or promised during the disclosure period.

Following each election, any declarations made by candidates that are successful in being elected into Office are maintained in the register for the term relating to that election. Any declarations made by unsuccessful candidates are removed from the register.

Electoral Fees, Expenses and Allowances

The City is required under Section 5.96A the Local Government Act 1995 and Regulations 29C(2)(f) and (6) of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996, to publish any fees, expenses or allowances paid to each council member during a financial year beginning on or after 1 July 2020. This register is updated annually following the end of each financial year. The current register can be located below:

Complaints of Minor Breaches Register

Under Section 5.121(3) of the Local Government Act 1995 the CEO must publish an up to date version of the register of complaints. The register of complaints of minor breaches contains details of matters where the Local Government Standards Panel has made a finding of a minor breach.

Report on Training

Each financial year, a local government is required to prepare a report on the training completed by council members in that financial year, as per the requirements under s.5.127 of the Local Government Act 1995.

Primary & Annual Returns Register

In accordance with Sections 5.75, 5.76 and 5.96A(1)(i) of the Local Government Act 1995 and Regulations 29C(2)(d) and 29C(2)(e) of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 the City is required to publish a list of council members and employees (by position) that lodged a primary return and annual return for each financial year, beginning on or after 1 July 2020.
