Karratha Leisureplex Expansion Project
The Karratha Leisureplex (KLP) opened in June 2013 and has attracted over 3.5M visitors through its doors. During this time, minor refurbishments of the facility have occured to continually improve the experience for residents and patrons of the facility. These improvements supplement the overall amenity and facilities along with efficiently operating the facility, while meeting users expectations.
An improvement study was completed in 2020 outlining various upgrades as part of a 5 year staged Master Plan. This was then proposed and accepted by Council, investigating and reporting opportunities and design options for further assessment.
The Master Plan proposes a staged delivery over potentially five (5) years to minimise impact on operations and patrons use while allowing time to ensure an achievable cash flow and pursuing external funding opportunities for the delivery.
Numerous community engagement sessions have been held including feedback collection from our annual community survey, government agency and council workshops, KLP user group (clubs) and the local youth advisory group.
