Economic Development - Strategic Drivers

Below are some of the statements and questions raised to guide the strategic driver aspect of the City of Karratha Economic Development Strategy - please take some time to add your thoughts to the below:

City as a Regional Hub

  • Planning should be in place to position Karratha as the primary center of the North West
  • Need to consider a Northern Australia context. There is Federal Government support available if we are aligned

  • Diversify

  • There is room for investment in more than big industry: Education, Arts, Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Tourism etc

  • Long Term Sustainability

  • Need to be more future focused and have a vision to drive economic development and not get too comfortable & complacent
  • Things change over time; let’s understand what those changes could be, and how we can best position ourselves to take advantage of those changes
  • Improve, be proactive, consider and create opportunity to design the future

  • Business Attraction
