Special Disposal Requirement Waste

Special Disposal Requirement Waste contains material with chemical substances, or wastes at concentrations above background levels that present, or have the potential to present a risk of harm to human health or the environment, or simply requires special handling. Here's how to deal with it.

When dealing with Special Disposal Requirement Waste

The 7 Mile Waste Facility can only accept waste as listed in the Landfill Waste Classification and Waste Definitions 1996 for Class I, II and III. 

The following sites will be useful to determine what can be brought to this facility:

Non Compactible Waste, Clean Concrete, Processed Green Waste, Quarantine Waste, Hazardous Waste, Special Waste Types 1, 2  and 3 and some Controlled Wastes have special disposal requirements and require a permit. 


  1. Ensure your company has an account with the City of Karratha Council. If your company does not have an account with the Council, complete a Credit Account Application form, available HERE, and submit before applying for a permit (continue with this process only after you have received notification that the account has been created).
  2. Request an electronic copy of the Waste Disposal Permit by contacting Once completed email the request to
  3. If approved, a permit will be returned, via email, to the party making the request.  The waste can then be delivered to the 7 Mile Waste Facility according to the permit conditions and delivery date. 

NOTE 1: Transport driver must present a copy of the Waste Disposal Permit and purchase order (if applicable) to the 7 Mile Waste Facility Operator prior to moving on to the weighbridge for every delivery

NOTE 2: Transporter is responsible for off-loading the material and will not be assisted by City of Karratha Council staff or machinery.
