Units are always seeking new members and any enquiries are most welcome. No background training is needed, though military and police training is an advantage. Contact the Local Manager or Membership Officer for further information.

- Road accident rescue
- Single rope techniques (abseiling) and vertical rescue
- Observation from aircraft and supply dropping
- Ground support for fire services
- Traffic management
- Community education
