All City of Karratha residents may use the libraries free of charge and can use their library card to borrow from any of the libraries. Initial loan period is 3 weeks. All libraries offer Microsoft Office products and Internet access. Scanning and photocopying services area available for a small fee. The City of Karratha Libraries also conduct story telling sessions for pre-school children. Please enquire at your local library for times and days.

Local History Centre

The local history collection provides information about Dampier, Roebourne, Cossack, Wickham, Karratha, Point Samson and past and present boundaries of the area now known as the City of Karratha.

The collection is a valuable repository containing information on the development, people, places and events that have shaped the history of the region.

The Local History Centre is located inside the Karratha Public Library, resources are not for loan but can be viewed weekdays 9am – 5pm.

 

Expressions of Interest: Local artworks to be exhibited at Karratha Public Library foyer

Karratha Public Library is taking Expressions of Interest for local artists to display their works in the library foyer.

With hundreds of locals and visitors visiting the Karratha Public Library, the foyer offers an ideal space for enthusiastic artists to showcase their work. This exhibition space is able to accommodate 3-dimensional artworks; including pottery and sculptures, as well as film, photography, mixed media and paintings. Artists may choose to have their pieces for sale or for exhibition only.

Artworks will be displayed for up to and no longer than six weeks at time.

A hanging fee of $165.00 per exhibition will apply.

Our Libraries have acquired new electronic resources as part of our goal to support lifelong learning in the community. To access these resources you will need to enter your library card number and create an account.
